Teaching programs:
The Department offers two B.Sc. degrees: one in Biological Sciences and the other in Medical Analysis. The total credit hours required for the Biological Sciences are one hundred and twenty six ; forty seven of which are obligatory and eighteen are electives.
The total credit hours required for the Medical Analysis are one hundred and twenty six; fifty three of which are obligatory and sixteen are electives. Moreover, the Department offers a “Diploma” degree in Biological Analysis; the total credit hours required for this degree are twenty four hours which are obligatory.
The Department also offers Master's degree, according to a graduate program which started in 1972. And the following are the M. Sc. degree requirements:
• Successful completion of (24) credit hours from the obligatory courses of the study plan.
• Passing a comprehensive exam (0304796).
• Successful completion of (9) credit hours from the elective courses of the study plan.
The Department also offers a Doctoral degree since 1996; and the following are the Ph.D. degree requirements:
I. Doctoral degree requirements for those who have a Master's Degree.
• Successful completion of (12) credit hours from the obligatory courses of the study plan.
• Successful completion of (18) credit hours from the elective courses of the study plan.
• Passing a comprehensive (qualifying) exam (0304798).
• Submission of an approved thesis with (24) credit hours of supervision (0304799).
II. Doctoral degree requirements for those who have a Bachelor's Degree.
• Successful completion of (36) credit hours from the obligatory courses of the study plan.
• Successful completion of (27) credit hours from the elective courses of the study plan.
• Passing a comprehensive (qualifying) exam (0304798).
• Submission of an approved thesis with (24) credit hours of supervision (0304799).
The Department admits annually about two hundred students for undergraduate studies. Aside from these, the Department also accepts annually an average of forty students for the M. Sc. and Ph.D degrees.
