The Faculty of Dentistry is located at the southern end of the university campus. It occupies around 4400 square meters of floor area.
Lectures and pre-clinical courses are all held in this building which consists of two lecture halls and a seminar room, an internet laboratory for the students equipped with 40 computers and a postgraduate study room equipped with 14 desks and six computers with internet connection.
Four laboratories serve to train students in their pre-clinical courses:a laboratory for Conservative Dentistry, a laboratory forProsthodontics,Dental Anatomy and Histology laboratory, and Orthodontics laboratory.
Through the faculty’s mission to serve the community and increase dental awareness in distant areas, students lead by staff members visit different parts of the country to provide dental care. A portable dental unit is available in the faculty for this purpose.
The clinical training for dental students takes place at the Jordan University Hospital which was annexed to the university in 1975 to train medical students.
The outpatient clinics and dentistry section are located in the outpatient building which has a separate floor for dentistry equipped with 104 dental units for students’ clinical training courses.
The dental units are divided according to specialty:
- Conservative Dentistry clinics, consisting of 36 units.
- Prosthodontic clinics, consisting of 16 units.
- Oral Medicine clinics, consisting of 4 units.
- Oral Surgery clinics, consisting of 5 units.
- Orthodontic clinics, consisting of 8 units.
- Pediatric Dentistry clinics, consisting of 8 units.
- Periodontology clinics, consisting of 8 units.
In addition, 9 dental units are allocated for postgraduate students.
Dental services are provided to the public free of charge by dental students at undergraduate levels under the supervision of a faculty member of staff or a clinical supervisor, only patients requiring prosthodontic treatment have to pay the cost of the laboratory work.
Three laboratories present on the same floor provide the laboratory work for the consultants and some laboratory work for the students and the consultants.
In addition, there are 15 consultant clinics, a section for oral radiology, a section for sterilization, and a highly equipped surgical unit for performing minor surgical procedures and treating children under GA.
