Resource Rooms
There are several resource rooms in support of language learning in the Faculty. Some are located in the FL building, while others are in the new Language Center. These are comfortable spaces for extra-reading available in a variety of languages for students of English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Korean, etc. In addition to books, these rooms include magazines, journals, CDs, video cassettes and other electronic material.
Cultural Corners
In support of the learning of language, literature, and culture, FL, in cooperation with several international agencies and embassies, has established several cultural corners, which include all types of interesting material – in English, Arabic, and other languages – about many of the cultures whose languages are taught in the Faculty. These include the American Corner, which supports students studying English as well as students enrolled in the American Studies MA; the Korean Studies Unit, which has all types of books and electronic material in English, Arabic and Korean about South Korea; the Italian Corner, which houses material in Italian and English about Italy; and the Greek Corner. These spaces, located in the FFL building and the Language Center, are FL's windows to the world at large.
Audiovisual Rooms
In the FL building and the Language Center, there are a number of audiovisual rooms in which teachers and students can hold various activities, as part of classes themselves or as extra-curricular activities. These are equipped with equipment for power-point presentations, satellite channel viewing, video-cassettes, and other visual aids.
Individual Viewing and Listening Rooms
At the language center, there is a comfortable hall for individual listening and viewing. Students can watch any film they are interested in or listen to any tape any time.
Conference Rooms
FL has allocated several rooms containing roundtables, ideal for group discussions, small seminars, reading sessions, and meetings. These are available for both students and faculty members. They are located in each department and in the Deanship building.
Graduate Students Room
A comfortable room equipped with comfortable chairs, reading materials of all sorts (including some specialized journals), research papers and access to Internet, has been dedicated to use by graduate students in the Faculty. They can access it anytime from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Computer Labs
There are, in the Faculty, two computer labs available to students from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. All the computers are hooked to the Internet and can be used either for classes or for individuals or small groups – this, in addition of course, to the many computer labs available on campus.
Language Labs
In the Language Center, there are several labs, including a translation lab, available for students. These are used by classes in which students need to exercise listening and speaking, in particular.
A Reading Room
In the Humanities Hall Complex, there is a large, quiet hall, which includes several interesting books and journals available for students who wish to sit quietly and read. It is available from 8-5 daily.
The Main Library
UJ is very proud of its main library. The marble building, centrally located and extremely close to FFL, houses a very rich collection of books, magazines, journals and articles in the spheres of language, linguistics, literature, and culture. There is, also, a great deal of electronic material.
