Type 2 or
adult-onset diabetes
mellitus is one of
the most common
noncommunicable
diseases, and its
epidemic proportion
has placed it at the
forefront of the
public health
challenges currently
facing the world. It
presents a serious
health problem in
Jordan and in the
region. The disease
mainly hits late
adults and
geriatrics, which
are the most
vulnerable groups
from nutritional and
physiological point
of view. The
conference “Updates
in Nutritional
Management of
Diabetics and
Elderly” discusses
the recent
developments
encountering aspects
on nutrition,
dietetics,
metabolism,
epidemiology and
psychology-sociology
of the diabetic and/
or the elderly case.
Experiences on
practical
application of these
aspects are
emphasized. |
