Winning a scholarship of 5.000 $ in the field of social studies. The scholarship was granted by the Arab Women Organization to one of the Center's students whose M.A degree research project was entitled: "Evaluation of the Project of Women's Developmental Prosperity and its Relation to Empowering Women" in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

 

-          * In collaboration with the Jordanian American Commission for Educational Exchange (FULBRIGHT), the Center is willing to host two researchers, who are Maryam Zoma (from 17 December 2010 through 17 September 2011) and Nadia Al-Hashimi (from 21 March 2011 through 21 December 2011), and whose topics are: "Empowering Iraqi widows in Jordan: How Jordanian NGOs Play a Pivotal Role in the New Iraq" and "Crossing Over, Being One: Evolving Roles of Jordanian Women in a Changing Society" respectively. The Center has already hosted two FULBRIGHT researchers, who are Mary Elston and Bozena Welborne. The Center has academically supervised them and helped them contact different NGOs.

 

*The Center has hosted a student from Lund University in Sweden to conduct field work about “Jordanian Women’s Participation in the labor force”.

 

·         * Conducting an analytical study for the “Waraqati” project, which is concerned with gathering the most frequently asked questions on the rights of women and children in the Jordanian legislations.

 

 

*Hosting Dr. Dinah Bennet, the Director of the Center for Educational Exchange in Durham University, to give a lecture to the students of the Center on Women and Economy.

 

* Participating in conducting a regional study funded by the International Bank through the International Financial Institution on the circumstances of women entrepreneurs in MENA (Middle East and South Africa).

      * Translating a valuable book in the field of gender concepts and feminist thought, and the book gained approval to be published.

      * Participating in Dubai’s annual conference entitled “Insight Dubai”. 50 female students from universities all over the world participated in this conference.

      * Participating in a number of conferences and workshops on women’s issues.

      .* Honoring 39 academics under the patronage of her highness Princess

 

* Hosting a number of foreign students from AMIDEAST to discuss the development of the Jordanian feminist movement.

      * In cooperation with Warwick University and Princess Rahma College in Al-Balqa' Applied University in Jordan, the Center has held a workshop on "The Social and Legal Status of Iraqi Refugees in Jordan". Representatives from various NGOs attended the workshop, such as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Nour Al-Hussein Foundation, and Jordan River Foundation.

      *  Signing an MoU with Alicante' University in Spain entitled: "Equality: Enhancing Women Leadership in High Eeucation Institutions and Arab Societies" within the Tempus program relating to gender issues in the Middle East.

* Participating in a proposal for the FP7 call: “SiS-2010-2.1.3.1 Women in Science: Euro-Mediterranean Cooperation” in cooperation with CIREM Institute in Spain.

      *  Hosting a Thai academic group that consisted of (20) professors and students from the school of Nursing at Khon Kaen University in Thailand.

     

* In cooperation with the U.S. embassy in Amman, the Center has hosted lecturer Randa Kuziez to discuss the issue of "Islam and Women in the United States" and reveal the challenges that a Muslim woman faces in the United States and the ways of dealing with these challenges.

 

*Participating in the Women's Dialogue that was supported by videoconferencing and streaming linking participating sites in the USA, Jordan, Ghana, Kenya, and Lithuania. At its heart was an interview with Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland and former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and a well-known figure in respect to women and leadership issues. This interview was followed by a local discussion in each of the local participating sites where participants discussed the topic of women in leadership in the local context with others taking part in the Dialogue in their local site. The event included an open moderated discussion with Mrs. Robinson linking participants in all sites.

 

* Hosting Mrs. Anas Al-Saket from the Human Rights Center to give a curriculum-support lecture within the course "Women and Politics" on women's issue and the dynamicity of women's movements in the Arab countries in general and in Jordan in particular.

      * Hosting Mr. Shouman Al-Majali – the Director of the Human Resources unit in the Social Security Corporation in Jordan - to give the Center's students a lecture on the new social insurance law.

      * Organizing for a three-day training course at the UJ library for a number of librarians from GDRSC (Gender and Development Research and Study Centre) at Sana'a University in Yemen.
