An (80)-member Student Council representing students from across the University is elected annually in a secret ballot for a one-year term, half are elected half appointed on the basis of academic excellence or distinction in some spheres. The council aims at promoting students' cultural, social, and sport activities; enhancing the democratic process; encouraging dialogue; fostering the spirit of cooperation and team work among students, and raising students’ awareness of their rights and duties. It also acts as a liaison between the students and the University administration on matters of major concern to students. The council executes its various activities in association with the Deanship of Student Affairs. Furthermore, it is supported by local council committees operating at the faculty level within each faculty.
The Deanship also supervises the following services and activities: The Student Clinic, the Student Activities Complex, Samir Rifa'i Auditorium, the student monthly publication Sawt al-Talaba (The Students' Voice), and the annual Student Guide and The Year Book.
