Media, Public and Cultural Relations Unit
The Media, Public and Cultural Relations Unit at The University of Jordan (UJ) is concerned with providing the convenient atmosphere and opportunities for UJ to reach mutual understanding with the various sectors, institutions and universities in The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
The Unit handles all academic, cultural, and social activities that are organized by UJ, and provides these activities with needed facilities.
The Unit Consists of Two Departments:
- The Media and Public Relations Department.
- The Cultural Relations Department.
The Media and Public Relations Department
The Media and Public Relations Department consists of two sections:
A- Media and Ceremonies Section:
It works on providing the Public Opinion with information about The University of Jordan’s profile, activities and events held in through different types of mass media communication, in addition to issuing periodic and non-periodic publications; most notably: The University Newsletter in Arabic Language, Phone Book, and contribution to issuing of the Annual Book.
The Section oversees the issuing of “UJ E-Newsletter” (The Voice of the Future). The E-Newsletter is characterized by providing a daily meal of news, analyses, studies, and researches that have high-quality, comprehensive, and credible content. More than one thousand browsers visit it daily on the following address: www.ujnews.ju.edu.jo
On the other hand, the section provides facilities and arrangements necessary for scientific activities such as seminars, conferences, exhibitions and meetings held at UJ individually or jointly with other bodies and institutions, and it ensures an appropriate level of various administrative services and procedures necessary for the success of these activities.
It also oversees the issuance of the Annual Book in coordination with the Student Affairs Deanship and Admission and Registration Unit, and the documentation of cultural, scientific, and social activities carried out by UJ.
B- Radio Broadcasting Section:
The Radio of The University of Jordan (UJ) began broadcasting starting of 2009, on the frequency of 94.9 MHz.
As an important means, The Radio of UJ seeks to highlight and support the scientific and youth qualifications, and inform all segments of the Jordanian society with what scientific, cultural, and research activities held at UJ campus, as well as to shed a light on the role of the University in education, scientific research and community service.
The Cultural Relations Department
The Cultural Relations Department was established in 2010 to form an important tributary to put culture in its wide and spacious space, and to highlight the profile of UJ as one of its functions, as well as, because culture is a knowledge carrier, and a communicative space that contributes to activating the role of the University, as a research and cultural institution, in the renaissance of the community.
The department also devotes efforts to follow up the cultural activities and conduct strategic planning at the level of cultural programs and activities. It also gives efforts to develop new activities such as book fairs, cultural weeks and seasons, prepare studies and researches on the serious cultural work, and strengthen the role of the University among the cultural landscape.
The Cultural Relations Department consists of two sections:
A - Cultural Conferences and Forums Section
It oversees the organization of “The National Cultural Conference” annually, in addition to organizing specialized conferences, seminars, and symposiums. It also oversees the full organization of the Cultural Week, the University’s Book Fairs, and the Cultural Days.
B - Journals, Documentation, Follow-up and Examination Section
It includes two literary journals: The Cultural Journal: it is published by the University since 1983, and represents a comprehensive speech and a cognitive space, as well as, “Aqlam Jadidah Journal” the monthly cultural Journal which is concerned with youth creativity, and represents a free forum reflects the ideas and aspirations, and deals with internal and external cultural cooperation, as well as, cooperation with institutions of civil society.
