The President of the University of Jordan (UJ), Prof. Ekhleif Tarawneh mourns the loss of former professor of agricultural economics at the Faculty of Agriculture at the University, Prof. Suleiman Arabiat who passed away Wednesday after a lifetime of achievements.
Tarawneh expressed immense grief and deep sorrow over his death.
"The deceased who left behind a respectable scientific biography and had an impact on the march of the University of Jordan, was also a row model, both in teaching and academic research," Tarawneh said in a press statement.
Moreover, Tarawneh recalled the deceased’s role in the progress of the Faculty of Agriculture at the beginning of its establishment, stressing that the late devoted his life to serve and develop the agricultural sector, as one of the most important pillars in the overall national development.
Furthermore, Tarawneh prayed to the Almighty to grant the deceased his mercy and eternal peace and to give his family and relatives serenity, fortitude and good consolation.
It should be noted that the late was a professor and
researcher at the Faculty of Agriculture at the beginning of its establishment, in the early seventies of the last century, and had asumed a number of academic and senior management positions, notably as a Chairman of the Department of Agricultural Economics and then as the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and served as the Vice-president of the University of Jordan for Administrative Affairs.
The late professor was a member at several academic committees and editorial board of scientific journals and magazines issued by the University and major academic institutions. Also, he has a number of published research papers and scientific studies in scientific journals at the local, Arab and international levels.
