US$200,000 OFID Grant for UJ’s Center for Documents and Manuscripts
UJ recently signed an agreement with OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID). Under this agreement, the Center for Documents and Manuscripts receives a US$200,000 grant in support of a project implemented by the Center for the restoration of rare manuscripts from Jerusalem.
Mr. Suleiman Al-Herbish, Director-General of the Fund, indicated that the Center has become a landmark and destination for material heritage of historical, social and scientific significance.
Prof. Adnan Bakheet, Director of the Center, presented the mission and achievements of the Center especially the acquisition of historic documents such as correspondence, maps, personal notebooks, files, periodicals, logs of religious courts, Awaqf and churches in Bilad al-Sham, especially in Jerusalem.
