AbuHassan and Al Bawwab Among The U.S. Department of State 2014 Honorees for the Women in Science Hall of Fame Initiative
 
 
UJ faculty members Prof. Laila AbuHassan, Former Senator and Professor of Physics and Nanotechnology, and Prof. Abeer Al Bawwab, Director of Hamdi Mango Center for Scientific Research and Professor of Physical Chemistry, were among the 2014 honorees for the Women in Science Hall of Fame initiative.
 
 Eleven accomplished scientists were recognized this year by U.S. embassies across the Middle East and North Africa for their outstanding achievements in the advancement of science and for encouraging young women and girls to pursue education and careers in the fields of science and technology.
 
The U.S. State Department Environment, Science, Technology, and Health Hub for the Middle East and North Africa created the Women in Science Hall of Fame initiative in 2010 to honor outstanding women scientists in the region who serve as role models for the next generation of women scientists.
