The Vice-President of the University of Jordan for Scientific Research, Graduate Studies and Quality, Prof. Hala Khyami today honored elite faculty members and outstanding students at King Abdullah II School for Information Technology.
The Dean of the School, Dr. Mohammed Alqtawneh, said during the opening ceremony of the Scientific Day which is organized by the School on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the University: "The School has chosen to honor former faculty members in recognition of their efforts and their giving for the progress and prosperity of the School."
On the honoring of the outstanding students at the School, Prof. Alqtawneh said that those students had a role in getting the first place in the Arab region and the Middle East in the World Programming Contest (IEEE Xtrem) and the 23 place globally in )ACM) contest, at winning at the Samsung Challenge.
Prof. Alqtawneh stressed that the Scientific Day, which lasts for three days with the participation of 18 Companies, aims to build bridges of cooperation between the University represented by the School and the private sector to serve students and supply the local market with scientific workforce specialized in information technologies, and provide an opportunity for the interested companies to view academic achievements of professors and students of the School.
The Scientific Day includes intensive Java programming language courses, and trains students on CV writing and how to conduct interviews, scientific workshops, in addition to a job day.
It is worth saying that King Abdullah II School for Information Technology was established in 2000 and includes three academic departments: Department of Computer Science, Department of Computer Information Systems, and Department of Information Technology Business.
