Overview 
 
   Hamdi Mango Center for Scientific Research (HMCSR) serves as independent university unit dedicated to the support of interdisciplinary as well as well-defined research project in the fields of Applied Science and Technology. Established in 1999 at the University of Jordan, with a continuing gracious grant by the late Mr. Ali Mango, and guided by the Center Council, the center hopes to channel material and financial support for researchers dealing with scientific and technical problems of fundamental importance. A new building was constructed and it was opened in January 2009. 

Objectives

HMCSR aspires for active participation in developing the resources, at the University of Jordan, to conduct original research in the fields of Applied Science and Technology. This objective is to be achieved by dedicating HMCSR to

  • Support original research in Applied Science and Technology.
  • Encourage faculty members to carry out well-thought out and carefully designed research projects
  • Support faculty members and Ph.D. candidates, in the Faculties of Science and Applied Science.
  • Cooperate with national, Arabic and international organizations and agencies in supporting research.
  • Participate in supporting specialized conferences, seminars and workshops.
  • Participate in publishing the research results and conference proceedings supported by HMCSR
  • Participate in initiating specific interdisciplinary scientific research projects in areas of benefit to Jordan and various Jordanian development Universities.
  • Forge interdisciplinary linkages through which several groups from different scientific disciplines are encouraged to work together to tackle specific problems of national or international concern. 

Activities Initiated by the Center

HMCSR may program the execution of specific activities, which favorably bear on research conduct and development, through either of the following venues:

  • Forming subject groups from researchers, specialists and interested people, from within or outside of the University, whose function is to discuss, suggest, formulate and effectively participate in the execution of specific activities and establishing contacts, whose ultimate purpose is to favorably bear on research support and development.
  • Hiring full time personnel for predetermined periods of time, in accordance with the University regulations, either to conduct research or assist faculty members conducting research.
