Establishing a "Master On sustainable development and Renewable Energy" MANSUR Program The Energy Center noticed the shortage of the trained expertise and professionals in the local market in the field of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency to hold Large Projects in the Future. The Energy center received grant to establish a Master Program in the Field of Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development from TEMPUS with the cooperation of European Partner Universities. Tempus is one of the European Commissions’ programs which funded the "Master On sustainable development and Renewable Energy" MANSUR Program by 1.135.175 Euro. Partners in this program are: - Sapienzo University from Italy - Lund University from Sweden - Durham University from UK - Mutah University form the South of Jordan - Jordan University of Science and Technology in the North of Jordan - This program will discharge Professional experts who will. MANSUR program will provide the center with labs and Scientific instruments needed to prepare the Master Curriculum This program is designed to discharge professional experts who will Play an important role in the field of the renewable Energy of Energy Efficiency future projects.
The 3rd German Jordanian workshop on Potential Renewable EnergyUse SHIFT+ENTER to open the menu (new window).
The 3rd German Jordanian workshop on Potential Renewable Energy The 3rd German Jordanian workshop on Potential Renewable Energy was held in Jordan between the 18-20th of October at the University of Jordan and the Zeitounah University. The workshop was attended by tens of attendees that filled the auditoriums at both universities. The distinguished Jordanian speakers at this event gave speeches that provided the latest information about the current state of Renewable Energy Development in Jordan and the ongoing research at Jordanian Universities. Furthermore, there were several speakers from prominent Jordanian agencies. The German delegation consisted of several professors from Ilmenau University of Technology, Ilmenau, Thuringia, Germany. They presented their research and pointed out the possibilities of developing this research and technologies in Jordan. This event was characterized by the noticeable interaction between the audience and the speakers who provided an excellent opportunity to update both the Jordanian and German sides with the Renewable Energy practices and possibilities for implementation in Jordan.
German Space Agency (DLR) project to transfer CSP TechnologyUse SHIFT+ENTER to open the menu (new window).
German Space Agency (DLR) project to transfer CSP Technology The Energy center had signed the German Space Agency DLR to transfer the concentrated solar power to the MENA region including Jordan and received a fund of 4 million Euro for this. Partners in the project in addition to Jordan are from Germany, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco. The agreements includes the following: 1- Installing a precise weather station The University of Jordan represented by the Energy center and the National Center for Research and Developments/ Energy Program Signed the agreement from the Jordanian behalf with the German space Agency D. This agreement includes the installation of the weather station, which value more than 100.00$. The Energy center Sign a memorandum of understanding MOU with the MDA "Maan Development Area” to install the weather in Maan in January,2011 This weather station will take the sunlight readings each two minutes, these readings will be transferred to Germany via internet and analyzed them there. These readings will facilitate the drawing of the Ground Solar Map which will be the first of its kind in Jordan with an error less than 1% which is less than any other satellite solar map. These ground solar maps will provide the researchers and invertors with the data base for the feasibility studies issues. 2- Holding Training Program in the CSP technology in Spain Pull of Engineers from different organizations from the Ministry of Energy, National Center for Research of Development /Energy program, the University of Jordan and some local energy companies have attended a specialized training program in the field of the CSP (Concentrated Solar Power) Technology for one month. The trained experts will work inside Jordan, hold similar training sessions and workshops in the future to transfer what they have learned. Measurement instruments and equipments will be imported to the Energy Center for the calibrations and measurement purposes for the concentrated solar power cells. 3- Preparing teaching Material for the enerMENA Project The Energy Center had elaborated a teaching Material for the enerMENA project. Partners in the project are coordinating to prepare a teaching material for the CSP technology.
Solar CoolingUse SHIFT+ENTER to open the menu (new window).
Solar Cooling Conventional cooling systems consume high Voltage of electricity which reflects a high bell value for Jordanian citizens, this encourage scientists and researchers to find new methods for cooling with low electrical cost. Last year Jordan witnessed 15% increase in electrical consumption and demands for the cooling purposes during the hot summer The generation of electricity from the direct fuel and fusel burning will continue to discharge Green House Gases which will lead to global warning scarify and then atmospheric temperature and sea level will be dramatically increased. Conversion cooling systems will also contribute largely in the ozone layer depletion; the usage of Solar Energy Systems in cooling will reduce the Green House Gases emissions which effect the environment badly. Solar Cooling Systems work on water and electrical salt solutions which is economically feasible, friendly on environment and useful. For the importance and usefulness of this topic, Energy center had gathered a technical group from the Energy center, Hamdi Mango Research Center, Faculty of Engineering and Technology members to achieve this innovative project. Solar cooling project is funded from GIZ and the University of Jordan; this project will be executed in three years with a total fund of JD 56,500.
